Over 65 engineering companies attended the highly successful “Technology Day”, held in the Engineering Technology Group’s showroom in Southam, Warwickshire on 15 November, 2006.

Technology Day gave customers the opportunity to discuss applications, drawings and components, and to consider the best manufacturing methods. There was also an opportunity to take customers from model to manufacture in one step, with technical discussions between applications and customers.

The event celebrated the Group’s new strategic partnership with Cenit Desk top, CG Tech Vericut and the Society of British Aerospace Companies (SBAC) and also provided an opportunity to demonstrate Catia V5, Cadcam Vericut Simulation, Hyfore fixture design and manufacture on Chiron and Nakamura machines.

Paul Rhodes, Chairman of the Engineering Technology Group, said: “The Technology Day was a brand new concept, illustrating the combined benefits of the expertise of the individual companies within our Group. Visitors were able to witness first hand our ability to design, deliver and install a complete manufacturing process from solid model. The aerospace industry, in particular, values partnerships in which new technology, such as high speed cutting and 5 axis machining, can be applied to their production requirements by experts in the various techniques. The Engineering Technology Group offers cadcam expertise and facilities were demonstrated and both new and existing customers could witness a number of actual turn key projects from concept to application in real time.”

Barry Hindson, Managing Director of Burden Engineering and a customer of The Engineering Group, commented: “The Technology Day was one of the rare occasions where we were able to discuss solutions to the manufacturing process rather then just specifications of the machine tool”
