Chiron has launched
a new geometric 'health check' service to ensure that its customers
continue to get the best possible performance out of their machines.
Inaccurate parts cost money and down time, and yet in the real world of
production it is easy for spindles, axes and tables to get knocked out
of alignment, while 24/7 production inevitably causes wear and tear. And
while the effects might appear negligible, over time they can add up to
a real problem.
The new service from Chiron can be completed in one day and includes
four diagnostic checks – a Renishaw ball bar test, a machine levelling
check, axis alignment with granite squares, and spindle reference bar
checks. Customers receive a detailed report outlining the machine's
performance and any areas
that need remedial work. If this can be carried out on the day it is
included in the cost of the service.
If possible, all fixtures are left on the machine during testing to
avoid any unnecessary disruption to production.
According to Keith Clowe, Engineering Services Product Manager at
Chiron, the check takes the guesswork out of understanding component
inaccuracies.
"The geometric health check will either reassure you that your Chiron
machine is correctly aligned and performing to the best of its
capabilities, or it will highlight problems that could cause incorrect
parts and unwanted downtime now or in the future."
Chiron is offering the geometric health check as a special introductory
price of £499 if it is ordered before the 31st August 2005. Sessions can
be booked by calling Keith Clowe on 01926 818 418.
Chiron is a member of The Engineering Technology Group of companies.
