Chiron has opened the doors on its new €10m customer and technology centre at its headquarters in Tuttlingen, Germany. The new facility is based on the company’s existing site and is intended to improve efficiency and information exchange between customers, consultants and Chiron engineers.

Building work on the project started less than a year ago, when the ground was broken in October 2004. Since then over 2,000m³ of concrete has been used along with 200 tonnes of sectional steel to build the seven story building. The building’s 5,000m² floor space houses state-of-the-art multimedia facilities for the workshops and seminar rooms where both theoretical and practical training courses will be run for new and existing customers of Chiron. Additionally, the building has a large demonstration area where customers can see the full range of Chiron vertical machining centres.

The €10m investment demonstrates our commitment to our customers and will help us to ensure that we remain at the leading edge of our industry. Our UK customers will benefit through training courses held in the new facilities, prove-out of their projects in the showroom and direct access to Chiron’s design engineers.”

The building was opened by Dr. Hans-Henning Winkler, managing director for Chiron Gmbh to an audience of over 300 dignitaries and guests on 6th September. The facility was made open to the general public of Tuttlingen during the following weekend, when an estimated 4,000 visitors came to view the new facility.
